About Us:
Community Action for Better Living Inc. (CABL) is a dynamic, not-for-profit community service organisation based in Burwood, NSW. The Role:
We are on the lookout for an experienced and passionate Manager to lead our Burwood WDVCAS team. This pivotal role reports directly to the CEO and is an integral part of CABL’s leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee service delivery and ensure it aligns with our mission and values.
- Supervise and support a team of dedicated staff.
- Service delivery, staff supervision, budgeting, reporting and ensuring compliance with the funding agreement and related policy and procedure manuals.
- Navigate the complexities of and social and legal consequences of domestic and family violence (DFV), including legal matters such as ADVO applications, criminal prosecutions, family law, care and protection, migration and victim’s compensation.
Requirements:
- Proven experience and understanding of DFV dynamics, social and legal consequences, and the criminal justice response.
- As a minimum a degree in social work or equivalent, with extensive relevant experience.
- Exceptional organisational, administrative, financial, management, interpersonal and communication skills.

- Successful candidates will be required to have or undergo a Working with Children Check and a National Police Records Check.

This role will require operational oversight and clinical support to a team of domestic family violence (DFV) specialists in support of the service manager.
Your day to day will be exciting and dynamic, and include:
§ Supporting women who are the victims/survivors of DFV and their children
§ Supervision and leadership of members of the WDVCAS team
§ Providing extensive knowledge and insight to the team in relation to DFV
§ Liaising with the manager on all aspects of operations
§ Ensuring service delivery remains consistent with client needs and funding body requirements
What you bring to the role
To be successful in this role, you will need to be a strong leader who is adaptable and responsive to the constantly changing environment in the DFV space. You will require:
§ A degree qualification in Social Work or a relevant field
§ Minimum two years’ experience within DFV sector, with an emphasis on trauma-informed, client-centred support and legal aspects of DFV
§ Minimum two years’ experience supervising specialist workers, including providing learning and development support and debriefing
§ A supportive, approachable & flexible approach to supervision and team leadership
§ A valid Working with Children Check (WCCC) and Police Check are essential
§ Valid NSW driver license and access to a vehicle is desired

Program overview:
CABL’s Family Support Service provides a range of support to families with dependent children who are having trouble managing as a result of internal or external stresses of life.
It is a preventative service with a focus on supporting families, strengthening and building on family members’ existing skills. Family services focus on encouraging and developing positive relationships within families and promoting environments which value, nurture and protect children.
Role description:
We are currently seeking a Casual Child and Family Worker who will be instrumental in contributing to the overall positive experience of children and young people and their families who are engaged with CABL. You will be involved in implementing programs for children and young people; ensuring the physical space and settings are child safe, child centered, and trauma informed; as well as interacting one on one with children and caregivers. Role Responsibilities:
1. Working closely with children and young people who may display complex issues, possible trauma affectation and disabilities.
- Supporting Children and Young People and their families within a positive and therapeutic framework.
- Provide one on one (1:1) therapeutic support in client’s home or community settings where appropriate.
2. Collaboratively delivering activities and programs for children and/or young people.
- In collaboration with the Family Support Team, develop activities and resources for carers to access for their children of varying age and developmental stages.
- Assist at CABL multidisciplinary clinic days and the implementation of therapeutic interventions and treatment plans.
- Collaborate with the therapy team to create and maintain a supportive and engaging environment and care plan for clients.
- Ensure resources are developed with attachment theory, family systems theory and trauma informed practice embedded.
- Critically reflect and adapt program delivery based on learning and feedback.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues and critical incidents with clients, staff and stakeholders so that risk is appropriately managed.
- Document all activities.
3. Work collaboratively and flexibly with the Family Support Service Manager and Family Support Team.
- Develop and maintain constructive and professional relationships within CABL and with contractors.
- Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with program stakeholders, sponsors, and volunteers.
4. Actively contribute to CABL’s organisational culture.
- Contribute to a positive work culture by implementing this project in a manner consistent with CABL’s vision, values and mission.
- Contribute to CABL’s overall social impact by delivering on role expectations, from time to time performing other duties.

Qualifications, training & experience:
- Certificate III to Diploma in Child Services or equivalent qualification, or significant relevant experience or currently studying /previous qualifications in an allied health profession (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology or Occupational Therapy, or currently pursuing a late-stage degree in either field).
- Positive attitude and keen willingness to help children
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients, their families, and the therapy team.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- A genuine passion for helping individuals with diverse therapeutic needs.
- Experience working with children and young people and their families.
- Training in trauma-informed care and cultural competence and/or demonstrated experience in using these models
